Modern Classic Comfort: A Terrace Transformation in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya

Located in the prime area of Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya, this terrace house has been transform into a modern classic haven which is tailored to suit a couple who desired a home that is not only stylish but practical at the same time. A combination of classic style and modern convenience, the redesign was aimed at making the living environment cosy but also elegant, which is why the project included an American-style blue kitchen, a pink-themed walk-in wardrobe, a disability-accessible bathroom, all with the elements of artisanal touches, such as a handcrafted herringbone TV console and Moroccan-style tiles.

Inspiration & Major Design Ideas

The style was dictated by the need to combine the old world elegance and the new world functionality. The homeowners expressed a desire to have a place that would be warm, stylish, and suited to their lifestyle, so a number of prominent design decisions were made:

Kitchen: The American kitchen with its relaxing blue color is utterly classic with a backsplash tile with Moroccan pattern to add exotic chic to it.

Walk-in Wardrobe: The spare bedroom became a pink fairy tale walk-in wardrobe, where the soft colors are mixed with practical wardrobe systems.

Bathroom: A disability friendly design that incorporates mobility accessibility paths and makes it comfortable without foregoing style. Moroccan tiles make it look luxurious and practical.

Living Area: The central element of a self-made handcrafted herringbone TV console with artisanal woodwork details makes the place feel premium.

The general idea was to make a good balance between form and function where each detail has its purpose and contributes to the visual values of the home.

Although the flat terrain made structural adjustments rather simple, the project was associated with several barriers:

Space Limitations: Turning a bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe meant that there had to be smart storage ideas so as to make the most of the space without making it look congested.

Accessibility Requirements: The handicapped friendly bath required careful planning to make it easy to move around and still have a lavish look.

Material Sourcing: Locating the appropriate Moroccan tiles that aligned with the desired aesthetic was somewhat of a prolonged process, and so was locating a handcrafted herringbone console that lived up to quality standards.

These were obstacles which were easily surmounted through proper planning and liaising with experienced artisans.

Techniques of Construction & Material Options

Principal Materials:

Moroccan Tiles: Applied on the bathroom and kitchen backsplash to provide it with complicated patterns and stability.

Laminates & Solid wood: Used in the custom herringbone TV console and cabinetry, solid wood and laminates ensure a timeless look and feel and durability.

Accessible Bathroom Fixtures: Tiles used are slip resistant and grab bars have been installed at strategic locations to ensure safety without compromising the style.

Spatial Configuration & Execution:

The social design is accomplished with the open-plan living space that blends into the kitchen.

The walk in wardrobe makes use of modular storage to make best use of the space.

The design of the bathroom was well thought of to make it accessible to wheelchairs and still retain the spa like atmosphere.

This project was achieved with the help of meticulous 3D visualization, skilled workmanship, and attention toward high-quality materials, which made this house a perfect balance between modern elegance and the comfort of daily life.
